J. Strijder (pseudonym of Jeffrey Strijder) started rapping and writing songs with friends in his attic room at the age of 14. His friends quit, but Jeffrey had discovered his passion and he continued on his own. He made a solo-mixtape, which then was discovered by the famous rapper Diggy Dex. He insisted that J. would take classes at the Pop academy in Rotterdam, so he did.
His live performances appeal to a wide audience.
His Dutch lyrics are straight to the point and relate to the problems and questions where a lot of young people, even outside the rap scene, struggle with.Intelligibility is therefor important for Jeffrey: “I notice that my lyrics sink in, people understand what I’m saying and it gives them energy.”
